Muse Research Announces RECEPTOR VIP2

New I/O, Processor, and Expanded RAM for all Your Music-Making Needs

San Jose, California. Mar 23, 2015— Muse Research and Development, Inc. makers of the RECEPTOR line of hardware plug-in players, announce the release of a new and improved entry-level model, called the VIP2. This new configuration features a 3.3GHz dual-core processor, 8GB of RAM (expandable to 16GB), and built-in compatibility with the PreSonus AudioBox 1818VSL audio interface. The new model is priced the same as its predecessor at $1699 USD. You can also order the VIP2 with the PreSonus Audiobox 1818 interface for just $2099 USD. The unit comes with over $900 of pre-installed plug-ins to get you started in the world of virtual instruments and effects. The new VIP2 model is available for delivery starting in early April 2015.

Receptor VIP2: Packing plenty of processor punch! The new Receptor VIP2 features a dual-core Intel 3.3GHz processor with massive amounts of L3 cache for superior performance when running virtual instruments and effects. As a result, the Receptor VIP2 can run the most popular VST plug-ins from companies like Synthogy, Native Instruments, Spectrasonics, Toontrack, IK Multimedia, U-He, Rob Papen, and hundreds of others with power to spare. You can even run demanding plug-ins like Synthogy's Ivory 2 at the lowest latency settings and still achieve high polyphony. This is why most of the touring musicians use Receptor for running their virtual instruments and effects live on stage.

Standard 8GB of RAM and 1TB storage for running massive sound libraries... There's no such thing as too much RAM, so the VIP2 gives you gobs of memory with 8GB of system RAM, expandable up to 16GB. The VIP2 also preserves your RAM thanks to its unbelievably small memory footprint. Receptors use only 5% of the available system RAM for the OS and host app, compared to 40% used by the system in a typical computer. The result is that the VIP2 preserves over 90% of the installed memory for your musical purposes, letting you successfully manage huge sample libraries when compared to a laptop computer. The large amount of RAM also lets you load multiple plug-ins into memory for instant access thanks to the exclusive "Live Mode" feature found in all new Receptors. The massive amount of RAM, coupled with the 1TB, 7200RPM hard drive ensures that the VIP2 gets your data off the drive and through the sound engine at minimal latency, and with no clicking, coughing, sputtering or choking.

Built-in Stereo 1/4"line inputs and outputs, expandable to 18 inputs and outputs... Besides a full-size MIDI jack and multiple USB ports for connecting keyboards, the Receptor VIP2 has full-size line-level inputs and outputs for connection to mixers, amps, or other audio gear. The 24-bit, 96kHz audio performance lets you hear all the detail and nuance of the latest generation of virtual instruments. For truly exceptional audio performance, you can connect a PreSonus AudioBox 1818VSL interface. This will give you 8 analog and 8 ADAT digital optical inputs and outputs, as well as S/PDIF stereo I/O for a total of 18 ins and outs! The inputs can accept microphones, guitars, basses, or other keyboards letting your Receptor VIP2 become a central hub for mixing, processing, and generating all your sounds!

Ships with over $900 of virtual instruments and effects! You can start making music right out of the box thanks to the dozens of plug-ins that are pre-installed and ready to make music. With over $900 of virtual sounds and effects, you'll have hundreds of pianos, synths, organs and acoustic instrument presets to choose from. You'll also have dozens of pre-installed plug-ins in demo mode that will let you experience that vast world of VST plug-ins and effects with minimal hassle. You can authorize and transition your VST's to full use in a few simple steps.

Available with or without the PreSonus Interface starting in April. The Receptor VIP2 will be shipping in early April with a US MAP price of $1699 without the PreSonus interface, or $2099 including the PreSonus interface. Options include a 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB Solid State Drives, as well as an additional 8GB of RAM to increase the system RAM to 16GB.
