Receptor System Update Procedure

Backup Banks & Patches

Before updating Receptor you should copy any user patches to a local computer, as a precaution. The location of these files are listed below. <Receptor hard drive> refers to Receptor's hard drive as it shows up on your computer (i.e. in Windows Explorer or Mac OS X Finder).

- Backup "Multi" User Patches from: <Receptor hard drive>\Banks and Patches\Multis
- Backup "Single" User Patches from: <Receptor hard drive>\Banks and Patches\Singles
- To backup Plugin specific User Patches you need to copy them from the plugin's folder, as in this example: <Receptor hard drive>\Banks and Patches \4Front\4Front Bass Module\004-016-Your User Bank.bank

Update Installation Instructions

Before updating your Receptor please verify which version of the system is currently installed. You can check this on the SETUP screen on the Graphical User Interface (GUI) or from the Front Panel -> press the SETUP button on the Front Panel; turn the top display knob until you see "SU System Version". If it is not the immediately preceding major version to the one you are updating to (e.g. if you are updating to v1.7 the Receptor must have at least 1.6 installed) please download and update each major version in order, following the instructions below for each one.

  1. Copy the updater (updater-n.n.nnnnnnnnnn.mrpk) to the Receptor's "Drop Installers Here Folder".
  2. Close Receptor Remote Control, if it is open, and reboot the Receptor by triple clicking the Power button before running the update.
  3. Run the updater from Receptor's Front Panel or GUI:

    From the GUI:

    • On Receptor's SETUP page, click "Install 1 File".
    • Watch Receptor's Front Panel for the update progress. There will be no feedback on the GUI about the progress.

    From the Front Panel:

    • On the Front Panel press the "SETUP" button.
    • Turn the top display knob until you see "SU Install/Upgrade" - it will say there is "1 files" to install.
    • Press the bottom display knob, select "Yes" and press to apply.
    • Watch the Front Panel for the update progress. There will be no feedback on the GUI about the progress.

DO NOT TURN OFF RECEPTOR DURING THE UPDATE PROCESS

Note: The installation process may take several minutes to complete. When Receptor starts rebuilding it cache the Front Panel will be blank, just wait it out, that's the last step before the host application loads.

If the updater fails to install (i.e. it shows as Installation Failed on the front panel or 'Failed' on the SETUP tab on screen), please review "step 1" and verify that your Receptor was already running the immediately preceding major version to the one you are updating to (e.g. if you are updating to v1.7 the Receptor must have at least 1.6 installed).

Miscellaneous Downloads

Native Instruments Service Center
October 2007

All Native Instruments, and "powered by" Native Instruments, plug-ins require the use of the NI Service Center for authorization. You only need to download and install the NI Service Center on Receptor once; you can then proceed to authorizing your NI plug-ins on Receptor.

Please note that it may already be pre-installed on your Receptor if it left the factory after October 2007.
